How Can I Secretly Find Out My Partner’s Ring Size?
May 29, 2013
If you are planning on proposing to your loved one, you are going to need to remember one very important thing – to make sure it fits!
At Arman’s Fine Jewellery in Sydney, we understand the difficulty of finding out the ring size of your (probably already suspicious) partner. We are constantly asked how our clients are able to uncover the appropriate ring size, and to make sure your engagement ring fits your partner’s finger impeccably, it is an important step that cannot be skipped.
This is why we have tracked down some of the most effective ways to secretly discover your partner’s ring size – without them being any the wiser!
1. Call the parents…
Your partner’s parents or close family should have an indication of your partner’s rings size. It is also very possible that your partner has talked about ring styles, designs and settings as well as their size, so close friends and family are usually a wealth of information when finding out what your partner will desire in an engagement ring.
2. Pretend you have other intentions…
Acting coy can be a great way of gaining all the information you need without actually giving away your real plans. By going with her on a shopping venture and looking at cheaper, less sophisticated rings, you can learn her ring size easily.
Another great way is to pretend the ring is for someone else, you can sell this idea by asking your partner to try on the rings to see how it will look for your ‘friend’. Ask the assistant what size ring your partner just tried and mention that they look like they have similar sized fingers as your ‘friend’.
3. Do the dot test…
When your partner is not home, try on one of their other rings on your own finger. Mark where it sits with a biro pen by drawing a dot or line on your finger and then visit a jeweller such as Arman’s Fine Jewellery in Sydney to purchase a gorgeous and elegant engagement ring.
4. Get drawing…
If you don’t like the sound of the dot test, instead grab one of their rings you know they wear frequently (as they will definitely be the closest fit) and trace the inside ring on a piece of paper. Alternatively you could trace both the inside and outside rings on paper to ensure a correct fit.
By using these hints and tips, you should be able to discover your partner’s ring size without them becoming suspicious of your motives. If you do happen to mistake her size, you can always get the ring resized after you pop the question!
